Our Commercial Waste Collection Process
One of the first questions that you may have is how our waste collection process works, and although it’s different for every business, here is the general outlined process that we follow:
- 1. Understanding your business: Our first step is to look at your business and understand the type of waste that it produces, the volume and a variety of other factors to determine what combination of bins you require and collection schedule.
- 2. Provide a bespoke quote: When we’ve got all the required information, we can then provide you with a bespoke quote that works for the exact requirements of your business.
- 3. Waste preparation: We will need you to segregate the waste, which we will specify in our quote, what this often involves is separating recyclable materials into certain bins.
- 4. Collection & disposal: We will collect and remove the waste on the scheduled days, emptying the containers and taking the waste to a processing facility.
It’s important for us to understand your business and waste in order to effectively put a plan in place to manage that and contribute to a more sustainable environment.
Types of Commercial Waste That We Collect
We handle a variety of different types of commercial waste that your business may produce which includes:
General Waste
Items like paper, cardboard, plastic, food and other non-hazardous materials.
Recycling
Paper, glass, cardboard, metal and plastics are generally the waste that businesses produced which can be recycled.
Food Waste
Sometimes this falls under general waste, but it’s worth mentioning that we deal with large amount of food waste generated by cafes or other food businesses.
Clinical Waste
This is common in medical or beauty industries, there are strict regulations but we can remove any clinical products.
This is not an exhausted list of types of commercial waste that we collect at WRG, and we can also deal with hazardous waste and building waste if required, but general these fall under our other services.
How Much Does Commercial Waste Disposal Cost?
Commercial waste collection is typically a bespoke service centered around your specific business needs, every business will have a different type of waste, require different bins and frequency of collection.
The costs that we refer to in our quote encompasses the bin hire cost, collection charge, disposal charge, compliance fees, landfill tax & regulatory costs – which is worth keeping in mind. It’s hard to provide you with estimates of the overall costs, but generally we can provide you with an outlined estimate for cost per tonne:
Recycling can sometimes be free, if it’s uncontaminated plastics, paper and cardboard as part of a wider collection.
As mentioned there will also be a cost to hiring the waste bins, and this will be typically at a daily rental fee, but we do include this within our quote. These typically have an upfront purchase price, followed by that daily fee, here are a few examples:
Wheelie Bin
£40 purchase, £3 a month
Commercial Wheelie Bin
£250 purchase, £19.50 a month
Front End Loader
£2,500 purchase, £90 a month
Be aware that there can also be additional charges, which again we will fully inform you of prior to your agreement, but these can include excess weight charges, failed collections, contamination chargers & any container damage.
You can often reduce commercial waste collection costs by minimising your waste and segregating it properly. We will help you with this as part of the waste management plan, but it importantly needs the buy-in of your business to be efficient and cost effective.
