What is Considered Builders Waste?

As you probably know, and the reason you came to this page, is building work can create a lot of waste & with that a lot of different waste materials, it’s not always cut and dry what you need to dispose of. The question you may be left with is, what exactly does “building” waste mean, what materials will they collect and dispose? Well, we can dispose of pretty much anything, here are just a few common waste materials from building sites that we work with:

We can remove hazardous materials like asbestos, but this is a specialist service, and you would have to visit our asbestos removals service page.

Your Construction Waste Options

When you are removing construction waste, you have a few options available – all of which we offer here at WRG. All of your options have their various pros and cons, which we’ll touch on, so you can decide which may work best in your situation.

Man & Van Collection

The main service we offer on this page is our man and van style collection, this is where we handle everything for you. We simply arrange a date and time to collect the waste, and we’ll handle the rest, including the disposal. The only downside of this is it tends to be more costly than the other options, but it requires a lot less effort on your part.

Skip Hire

We have several skips available in a range of sizes, these all hold a different amount of waste but as long as you aren’t disposing of hazardous materials then you should be fine to use these for your waste needs. You can find out more about this service by visit the skip hire page.

Rear End Loaders

These are large containers that we will drop off and leave with you, they vary in size and can carry around 160 or so refuge bags of waste. Then on the agreed date we will come to collect them, this works really well with multiple collections for larger construction works.

Balers

These are smaller containers used for waste like paper, card, plastic and some metal which may not be suitable for construction but is worth a mention as it can be used to save space. These are essentially used to compress recyclable waste making it easier for transport and reducing your costs.

How Does Our Building Waste Removal Collection Work?

At the Waste Removal Group we make the collection of your construction and building waste as easy as we possibly can, with minimal input required from you. Here is our standard process:

1. Quote & Contact

2. Schedule

Once we’ve had an agreement upon the price, we’ll look to schedule the collection at a date and time that works for you.

3. Waste Preparation

From your side, all we need is that you ensure the waste is sorted and ready to be collected, mainly ensuring it is safe for our staff - please do let us know if you haven’t already, if there are any potentially hazardous materials as this will require special handling.

4. Collection

On the day our team will arrive to collect your waste, which will usually be in a specialist vehicle dependent upon the agreed waste collection method.

5. Disposal

Don’t worry about this, we’ll handle everything and dispose of the waste in an environmentally friendly manner at a nearby facility, where we process and identify what can be recycled.

It’s really that simple! The process can deviate slightly depending on your requirements and urgency, but generally speaking that is how our building waste removal service works. If you have any specific questions about our process or service, then please feel free to get in touch.

Disposal & Recycling of Construction & Building Waste

There are a few ways we ensure that building waste is disposed of efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way with a combination of recycling, reusing and landfills.

Recycling: There are many common construction materials and waste that we can process and recycle including woods, metal, glass, and certain types of plastic – these are all sorted, cleaned and processed.

Reuse: Although we don’t directly reuse the materials ourselves, the centres that we take the waste to will look to salvage some of the materials, particularly bricks and wood which may be able to be reused in some way, helping conserve resources.

Landfills: Although we do try to recycle and reuse as much as we possibly can, there will be certain materials that end up in landfills just due to the nature of building materials but we assure you that the landfills are subject to strict regulations to minimise their environmental impact.

It’s important to note that this process does slightly change dependent on local regulations and the type of waste, some facilities are able to recycle and reuse more than others. By sorting the materials, and following the regulations and restrictions in the area, we always ensure that we reduce the environmental impact of building waste.

Do You Need a Waste Management Plan?

We offer waste management plans that could be suitable for large scale projects, or if you are a business that wants to work with us long term. We will work with you to outline a strategy to reduce, reuse, recycle and responsibly dispose of waste efficiently and cost effectively.

An effective waste management plan can help you save money as a business and significantly reduce your time and resources required – so you can spend it on more important parts of your business.

If you need a waste management plan, please fill out our quotation form and specify this in our initial conversation, so we can tell you more about how the process works. To outline how a waste management plan works, it would look a little bit like this:

A successful waste management plan needs to be tailored to your specific needs, have the buy-in of stakeholders and be in constant collaboration with ourselves to achieve all the goals. This can significantly reduce your environmental footprint and as mentioned, reduce costs.

Can you collect from a construction site?

Yes, absolutely. We can collect from commercial premises as well as residential, and you may not even need to be there at the time, as long as we have access.

This really depends on how much waste you are producing, for ongoing construction or renovation projects we can schedule visits over the duration and control the frequency depending upon your needs.

Yes, generally speaking you would need a waste carriers licence and an environmental permit if you are a business. If it’s for a residential project, you may not need one depending on where you are disposing of the waste, but you will often be charged.

Get in touch with us! We understand that you may not require just a one off collection service, and you may need regular building waste removal collections, which is something we can definitely help with and come up with a cost efficient plan with discounts for long term partnerships.
