Materials Recycling Facilities
These centres are the first ports of call for recyclable material - such as paper, glass, cans and plastics - that have been carefully segregated by members of the public and left for collection at the kerbside.
MRFs receive these recyclables, sort and segregate them further where necessary, and bulk them up for shipment to specialist processors. Some mixed waste streams can be further sorted by hand, or by using machinery, in order to increase the amount of value that is extracted from the waste that we all generate.
"The role played by material recycling facilities - know as MRFs - is a vital one in the war on waste."

Compost
We operate compost plants throughout the UK, and compost over 100,000
tonnes every year.
The compost produced finds a variety of end users; restoration of our own landfill sites, some is returned to our local authority partners, and, increasingly it is used for the manufacture of top quality soils and bagged compost for the retail sector.
