Mechanical Biological Treatment

MBT is a proven technology in mainland Europe with over 80 operational facilities, mainly in Germany, Italy and Spain. FCC brings a wealth of experience in implementing solutions utilising a range of MBT processes and technologies. FCC has built or operates 12 MBT facilities with Anaerobic Digestion (AD) in Spain. The largest AD plant in the world is currently in construction in Madrid by FCC.

In the UK, WRG is able to offer this technology fully supported by its parent company, FCC.

"Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) is one of a number of alternative choices for processing waste. The MBT process aims to reduce the amount of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) going to landfill."

Compost

We operate compost plants throughout the UK, and compost over 100,000 tonnes every year.

The compost produced finds a variety of end users; restoration of our own landfill sites, some is returned to our local authority partners, and, increasingly it is used for the manufacture of top quality soils and bagged compost for the retail sector.
